History of Impressionism

Impressionist painter Monet did not paint from life, but instead found inspiration for his work in observing the world around him. They have an acute sense of color and light. As though they were looking at the sky through a lens, they painted what they saw with the aid of the camera obscura. Colors that clashed as a result of this new way of seeing the world were used. Small pigment dots are used in the pointillist method to create paintings on canvas. It is important to keep the number of dots to a minimum in order to prevent generating harsh or subdued hues. Smaller dots of paint on an oil canvas are typically likened to pointillist paintings. When it comes to impressionism, the past is very intriguing. French artists known as "the Impressionists" launched the movement in the late 1840s. They developed a technique that allowed them to do more than simply paint or sketch what they observed. Paintings by these artists also focused on the interplay of sunshine and reflected light, which was a refreshing change from the norm. Painting was a way for them to express their feelings about life and color. The Impressionists believed that art's mission was to move people deeply by displaying the beauty that surrounds us on a daily basis.

The Birth of Photography

Louis Daguerre invented photography in France in 1839, but the first colorized version was not made public until 1851. Up to 10 minutes were needed each photo because of the difficulty of the procedure. Photography became popular in the 1860s, after a slow start. William Henry Fox Talbot devised the wet plate technique in 1876, which significantly enhanced the process.

1874  saw the introduction of the wet collodion plate in the evolution of photography. Instead of using wet plates, which were exclusively sensitive to blue light, the emulsion layer on this camera was the key to its success. Wet collodion plates had the benefit of a rapid exposure period, which allowed for a faster start to the project.
