Epoch

I was surrounded, by the kiss of the earth, the thoughts of things to come, the breeze comforted me yet I ignored it, the ocean sang to me, yet I wandered far from her shore, my love was close, yet I was far from her beating heart, she tried to show me love, yet I could only feel the past, the clock was moving, yet I walked behind her hands, instead of holding them.

I stared at the present, and she smiled, as she had been waiting, I held her close, with no yesterdays, no tomorrows, just a kiss and a watching moon. As the ocean moved, so did we, the night didn't disappear, she just cradled our worries and watched us drift, further and further from shore, as we thought less, and felt more.

We are the horizon, blue skies, and orange rust, where birds fly, untouched, the rain waits, as northern winds gust, not remembered or forgotten, just felt, the way your hand touches mine. The waking moon brings silence, and in these coldest of nights, we share our warmest hearts.

We had chased the falling sun, yet she was always here, we let the seconds pass so fast until we realized they didn't move at all, as we stand, my hands are cold, your tears are warm, staring out to the sea, as the sun falls, in the pink haze, everything is gone, except the ocean in your eyes, and you in mine.
